Tiskalniku prijaznoRemote-controlled vehicle for the examination and servicing of stay ropes. (Ref: 12 PL 63AU 3OXR)
Technology Offer

The mechanical engineering division of a technical university from the South-west of Poland developed and built a prototype of remote-controlled track vehicle for the examination and servicing of stay ropes. It might be useful for different areas of industry and service to control stay ropes on towers, chiminies, air pipelines, especially in difficult access places (mountains, fiords, rivers). A complete technology documentation has been made and it is ready for commercialization.

The mechanical engineering division of a technical university from the South-west of Poland developed, designed and built a prototype of remote-controlled, track vehicle for the examination and servicing of stay ropes. It might be useful for different areas of industry and service for example to control cable cars ropes or lines supporting towers and air pipelines or cables especially in difficult access places (mountains, forests, fiords, lakes, rivers, seas). As a part of the project it was created a complete technology documentation, prototype was tested and patented and its is ready for commercialization.

The prototype of a vehicle, developed by the technology university's researchers from the south-west of Poland, can easily and safely move on stay ropes. Stay ropes are used to stabilize high and slender structures such masts, towers, chimneys, for example in the chemical industry or radio telecommunication. These ropes are usually heavily skewed to the level (30 - 65 degrees) and are coated greasy preservatives, which causes little friction on their surface. Because of safety reasons and other rules and regulations there must be periodically monitor the status of these lines through the surface of an optical surveillance and search for broken wires. Also monitoring of screw terminals to check the status of the points of attachment, and replacement of lubricant preservative. Most access to the upper anchorage rope is impossible and access to the lower rope is very difficult. The vehicle has a specially shaped elastomeric track that engage with the surface of the rope (with virtually no friction using rope - caterpillar), allowing the movement of the vehicle along rope with additional service equipment.

Innovative Aspects:
Key benefits of application technology.
The vehicle can climb up the rope, while transporting control and service devices such as: magnetic head to the "screening" lines, TV camera, device for removing the old grease from the surface of the rope and a device for applying the new grease as a fresh preservative.
Vehicle, while driving on the rope, does not damage the outer wire rope. Transport of these devices provides comprehensive care and service for the ropes.
With the initial understanding, which was carried out on the market there is an interest and the need to implement and enforce a prototype device.
On the market there is no technology that could compete with the developed model.
