Borza inovacij, znanja in tehnologij
Tiskalniku prijaznoMulti 3 dimensional tomographic energy dispersive diffraction imaging system (Ref: 12 GB 45P2 3PVO)
Technology Offer

A UK SME has developed a Multi 3 dimensional tomographic energy dispersive diffraction imaging system (3D-TEDDI) for the examination and analysis of the internal structure of a sample and whose main advantage is that it can be deployed as a piece of equipment in a standard laboratory where conventional TEDDI can not because of size restrictions and image quality. The developer is seeking suitable partners to bring this equipment to a product standard and bring to market under licence.

TEDDI are very large imaging machines and typically directs synchrotron or X-ray radiation at a sample. A solid state energy resolving detector is positioned to detect diffracted x-rays and an image produced. Whilst this technique provides imaging advantages over spectroscopic or absorption analysis alone, imaging often takes 14-16 hours, and the image is still not usable without a great deal of expertise and experience. This makes such a machine unsuitable and impractical for the majority of laboratories and unsuitable for medical imaging.
A UK SME has developed a smaller Multi-TEDDI machine that improves on the concept of TEDDI imaging by providing sample housing, a radiation source and simultaneous detection of diffracted X-rays across multiple planes. This machine quickly produces a a three dimensional (3D) composite image of multiple samples. Also diffraction data highlights significantly contrast patterns which may not be shown by absorption or spectroscopic analysis alone. The machine can therefore be used in many laboratory applications including the examination of medical samples in relatively short time scales, especially usefull being the novel production of 3D images.
Currently the Multi-TEDDI equipment is built as a laboratory bench piece of equipment and requires bringing to a product standard and the SME is looking for a partner or partners to achieve this and then bring to market either under a licence or as joint venture.

Innovative Aspects:
Innovations are : Multi-TEDDI imaging orovides a two dimensional array of energy dispersive detectors each with an associated collimator. This array obtains a 3D image by providing data om multiple sample volumes simultaneously;
diffraction data highlights significantly different contrast patterns which may not be shown by absorption or spectroscopic analysis alone.
Advantages are; Diffraction data to gether with absorption or spectrographic data is used to produce 3D images in much less time than current methods;
the detector array is a silicon pixel array, instead of conventional solid state germanium detector, thus reducing size and cost;
the devlopment includes a sample support area and a radiation source.
