A Catalonia based research foundation and a technological university have developed a technological application of epoxy resins that requires a curing process with an adequate agent. The use of this di- or polyisocyanates improves the thermal and mechanical properties of the epoxy resins by the formation of oxazolidone and isocyanurate groups all over the scaffold. Oxazolidones act as chain extenders and isocyanurate rings play the role of crosslinking points.
